Questions
The seven we are asked most, answered the way we would answer them across the bench.
Are the instruments real?
The instruments are fictional, described as carefully as we can manage. The horology borrows from real traditions: fusee drives, detached lever escapements, and hand-toned brass all exist.
Why is the winding key left handed?
So no borrowed key can strip a great wheel, and so no owner can hurry a winding. The full story is in the journal.
How long is the waiting list?
About twelve months for a commission, about four for a restoration. The visit room is quicker: a fortnight most seasons.
Can I choose the wood and the tone?
Yes, within the pattern. The escapement, the stand, and the signing are fixed. Everything you will notice daily is yours to choose.
Do you service other makers' work?
We restore instruments by any maker. The running report comes first, and the work must be reversible wherever honesty allows.
What does an orrery sound like?
Roughly three beats to the second on most patterns, softer on the Lunarium and deliberately louder on the Comet Chaser. Press T on this site for a small taste.
Is anything on this site for sale?
No. This is a fictional portfolio site. No orders are taken, no money changes hands, and the forms send nothing.
